Lauryn Bingley after out riding her claim

Apprentice jockey Lauryn Bingley’s move to the John Blacker stable just over a month ago is already paying dividends, with the in‑form rider notching a milestone victory on Good Friday at Mowbray.

Bingley guided Georgaroni to victory in the final race of the day, bringing up the 80th win of her extended apprenticeship — a benchmark that also confirms she has now outridden her claim.

Despite reaching that milestone, Bingley still has 12 months remaining on her apprenticeship due to significant time away from the saddle, including injury setbacks and a break to become a mother. Bingley started her career on August 7, 2022, and in just her second race ride steered home a winner in Neutralize for Scott Brunton.

Friday’s win was only the second time she had partnered Georgaroni. Their first attempt was far less straightforward — the gelding dislodged her on the way to the barriers before going on to finish second to Beneficiary.

Georgaroni, a son of Alpine Eagle out of the Ladoni mare Parisian Lush, hails from a family that includes two‑time winner Pepparoni and the placed mare French Kiss. Further back sits one of Tasmania’s most beloved gallopers, The Cleaner, adding extra depth to the pedigree.

Purchased for just $6,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale, Georgaroni has proven a bargain buy. From 10 starts, he has now recorded 4 wins and 5 placings, banking $89,900 in prizemoney.
