Annells will return to her home state of South Australia after more than three years in Tasmania — a move that began when she started gaining momentum as a fly‑in rider and decided to make the Apple Isle her base.

During her time in the state, Annells has been a valued member of several leading stables, riding work for John Blacker, John Luttrell, and Siggy Carr, who trains Cardiosphere.

Her career began in October 2019, and she wasted no time making an impression, riding her first winner — Finniss Moment — later that same month at Gawler. Since then, she has amassed 67 career wins, including a standout performance in the 2021 Port Augusta Cup aboard Connermara Rose.

Annells’ impact has extended well beyond race day. In 2022 she received the Carbine Club Scholarship, recognising her dedication both on and off the track. She was widely praised for the tireless hours she contributed to coordinating relief efforts for those affected by the 2020 Kangaroo Island bushfires, demonstrating the same work ethic and compassion that have defined her riding career.

As she prepares for the next chapter, Annells leaves Tasmania with the respect of trainers, owners, and fellow riders — and with one more winner to her name.
