Rubbleonthedouble, winner of Sunday’s Open Handicap, created a pre-race talking point after refusing to leave his day stall, forcing trainer John Keys to saddle him in the mounting yard. Following the impressive victory, Keys indicated the Golden Mile at Devonport is likely to be the gelding’s next assignment.

Horse of the Year
The 2026 Tasmanian Horse of the Year Awards will be held at Wrest Point Casino on September 18, with 10 outstanding gallopers nominated for the prestigious title. The quality field includes unbeaten juvenile Aristopolos, Launceston Cup hero Asva and reigning Horse of the Year Gee Gees Mistruth, who added a Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes victory in Adelaide to an outstanding season.

MyRacehorse Filly
MyRacehorse has provided an update on its Capitalist x Speedonova filly, purchased at this year’s Magic Millions Yearling Sale. The youngster is expected to enjoy another three to four weeks spelling at Armidale Stud before returning to Stuart Gandy’s stable to begin preparations for an early two-year-old campaign later this year.

Popular racing photographer Clare Pettit has every reason to be excited after her three-year-old filly The Orrriginal (Alpine Eagle) made an encouraging trial debut at Hobart on Monday. Trained by Stuart Gandy, the filly finished third, just one length from the winner, suggesting Clare and her ownership group could have plenty to look forward to when she makes her raceday debut.
