Unheralded stallion Strasbourg, who stands at Adelaide Plains Bloodstock near Reeves Plains, produced a remarkable treble of winners across three states on Sunday.
In South Australia at Naracoorte, four-year-old gelding Tanna opened the account, while across the border at Sale, fellow four-year-old gelding Stormbourg added to the tally. Completing the hat-trick in the Riverina at Wagga was four-year-old mare Trigoso.
Strasbourg’s progeny have been in strong form throughout the season, highlighted by Moxie’s victory in the Group 2 Westbury Classic in Auckland.
A son of I Am Invincible, Strasbourg was retired to stud at Rosemont Stud, where he stood his initial seasons following a high-class racing career that included success in the Group 2 Queensland Sires Produce.
His early crops have already made an impression, producing stakes performers such as Moxie and Colmar, the latter a winner of the South Australian Sires’ Produce Stakes as a two-year-old.
Strasbourg was relocated to Adelaide Plains Bloodstock last year to stand his first season in South Australia, giving local breeders access to a son of I Am Invincible at an affordable fee. His first locally bred foals are due this spring.
