Erica Byrne Burke is closing in on 100 wins for the season.

Erica Byrne Burke strengthened her grip on the jockeys’ premiership with a standout treble at Mowbray on Friday night, taking her season tally to 69 winners with just 14 meetings remaining.

The in-form rider partnered star two-year-old Aristopolos to victory for trainer John Blacker before combining with Adam Trinder to land a winning double aboard Magnaprime and Cherokee Dancer later in the program.

Kelvin Sanderson also enjoyed a successful evening, booting home a double with McVeigh and Just Bobby, both carrying the colours of the late Barry Goodrick. McVeigh, bred by Leah Goodrick, is by Stratosphere out of the Swiss Ace mare Louise, who has a filly by Stratosphere and is currently in foal to Needs Further.

Lauryn Bingley added to the riding honours with a double of her own, scoring aboard five-year-old mare Antheia for Sarah Cotton and Georgaroni for her master John Blacker.

Attention now turns to Elwick next Sunday, where the club will offer free entry, highlighted by a special Off The Track Showcase.
