Trainer Jessie Bazan is buzzing with optimism for her talented sprinting mare, Flying Concello, after she dominated the final event at Hobart on Sunday. In an interview with Tasracing’s Colin McNiff, Bazan mentioned that Flying Concello might have one final run before heading to the paddock, hinting that a race like the Lady Lynette could be a possibility.
Flying Concello is owned by Mick Stringer, a renowned greyhound trainer and Hall of Famer in Tasmania, who purchased her with future breeding plans in mind. This impressive mare is powered by TRAPEZE ARTIST, out of the Lonhro mare, Little Gypsy. Little Gypsy has also produced Mr. Gorman, a winner of three races so far, as well as the promising two-year-old, Blue On Gold.
TRAPEZE ARTIST himself is an up-and-coming stallion, already having sired two Group 1 winners: Griff, who took home the Caulfield Guineas, and Panova, who recently claimed the Australian Oaks at Morphettville on Saturday.
Interestingly, Flying Concello’s latest victory coincided with Ka Ying Rising’s triumph, whom she had previously outperformed in a jumpout as a two-year-old. With this win, Flying Concello now boasts six victories from 20 starts, while Ka Ying Rising extended his winning streak to 20 at Shai Tin.
