Tasmanian‑bred filly Swift Force continued her rapid rise with a commanding win at Caulfield on Saturday, further highlighting the strength of the state’s breeding ranks. The John Keys‑trained daughter of Magnus, bred by Jenny Watson, proved she can match it with mainland opposition as she powered to her fourth win from five starts.

Classy Tasmanian filly Swift Force delivered a dominant performance at Caulfield on Saturday, giving trainer John Keys another impressive metropolitan victory and putting the spotlight firmly on her Tasmanian breeding.
The daughter of Magnus—out of the More Than Ready mare Fast And Ready—was bred by respected Tasmanian horsewoman Jenny Watson, who trades as Macleay Thoroughbreds. Purchased by Keys for $30,000 at the 2024 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale, Swift Force has now built an outstanding record of four wins and a second from just five starts.
A Professional, Confident Win
Ridden by former Tasmanian jockey Craig Newitt, Swift Force bounced straight to the front and travelled comfortably away from the rail. Newitt allowed her to drift to the middle of the track before cruising home to score by 2.25 lengths, stopping the clock at 1:04.42 on a Soft 7 surface.
“Her manners today were outstanding,” Newitt told Racing.com after the race.
Keys confirmed the filly will remain in Victoria to target a 3YO sprint series, adding that rider Teagan (Keys) will stay in Melbourne to partner her.
Strong Tasmanian Breeding Connection

Swift Force’s breeder Jenny Watson has long been a respected figure in Tasmanian thoroughbred circles. She served an extraordinary 23 years on the TasBreeders Committee from 1995, including a term as President from 2017–2018. In recognition of her contribution, she was awarded Life Membership of TasBreeders in 2020.
Another Tasmanian breeder, Phillip Bingley, who now owns Swift Force’s dam Fast And Ready, watched the Caulfield run with particular interest. Bingley also has a half‑sister to Swift Force, a filly by the world‑class stallion St Mark’s Basilica—the former World Champion 3YO and European Champion 2YO, and sire of unbeaten Tasmanian juvenile Aristopolos.
Swift Force’s success adds another highlight to Watson’s long record of producing tough, competitive Tasmanian‑bred horses capable of matching it with mainland opposition.
