It was a memorable day for Tasmania’s resident stallions at Hobart on Wednesday, with locally based sires producing the winners of six of the nine races on the program.
Leading the charge was Grenville Stud, with both of its stallions represented in the winner’s stall. Zululand was the sire of Native Clan, while Stratosphere was represented by Billie The Great.
Armidale Stud’s proven sire Needs Further continued his outstanding season when his daughter Southern Auroras added another victory to her record.
The late Tough Speed was also represented by a winner, with the talented Alvarinho taking out the open-class feature.
Broadmarsh Stud’s stallion Squamosa added to his growing tally through Sh’bourne Power, while Wordsmith continues to make his mark on the local racing scene. His six-year-old mare Geegee Strawberry recorded her fourth career victory, further underlining the stallion’s consistency.
The results provided another timely reminder of the strength and depth of Tasmania’s locally based stallion roster, with their progeny continuing to perform at the highest level across the state.
