The pass covers Newmarket Night on November 20, Longford Cup Day on New Year’s Day, Tasmanian Oaks and Gold Sovereign Stakes Day on February 19, Launceston Cup Day on February 24 and the Good Friday Family Fun Day on March 26.
Entertainment will be a major part of the package, including DJ Lewis Jay at the Newmarket meeting and internationally renowned Australian DJ Havana Brown, who will headline the official Launceston Cup After Party.
Those purchasing a Summer Social Pass by September 9 will also go into the draw to have the full cost of their pass refunded.
Rocks Bring Devonport Meeting to a Sudden Halt
Racing at Devonport came to an unexpected halt on Wednesday, with the meeting abandoned after just two races following the discovery of rocks on the Tapeta synthetic surface.
The issue was detected before Race 3, with officials deciding it was unsafe for racing to continue.
The Spreyton track has since been closed to all activity, including trackwork, while remediation work and a detailed assessment of the surface are undertaken.
Tasracing is expected to provide a further update once those investigations have been completed.
Encouraging Figures for Hobart Wednesday Meeting
Tasmania’s move to Wednesday racing appears to have made an encouraging start, with the first midweek meeting at Hobart on August 5 producing solid turnover figures and a healthy crowd on course.
Early indications suggest the Wednesday timeslot could prove more profitable than the traditional Sunday meetings.
However, one meeting doesn’t make a trend, and the real test will come over the next couple of months.
It will be interesting to monitor turnover and attendance figures as more Wednesday meetings are conducted and see whether the promising start can be maintained.
