Busy Morning of Trials and Jumpouts at Longford.

Flying Concello ready to return to racing after impressive trial.

It was a busy morning at Longford on Tuesday, with 11 trials and four jumpouts providing plenty of interest as several well-known gallopers continued preparations for upcoming assignments.

Flying Concello looks ready to make a successful return to the races following an impressive performance in Heat 9.

Since joining the Jessie Bazan stable, Flying Concello has made five starts in Tasmania for an outstanding record of four wins and a third.

Geegees Gemstone, who was narrowly beaten by Flying Concello in the trial, also looks ready for his return to race day.

The gelding has not raced since finishing third behind Perspiration in the Royal Rambo on Launceston Cup Day. Geegees Gemstone is already a proven performer at feature level, having won the 2024 Listed Newmarket Handicap.

Both Flying Concello and Geegees Gemstone are likely to resume in the $50,000 Goodwood at Elwick on Melbourne Cup Day, before progressing, if everything goes to plan, to the $125,000 Newmarket Handicap at Mowbray on November 20.

Asva Back on Track

Devonport and Launceston Cup winner Asva also caught the eye, producing an impressive performance in his 1400-metre trial as he continues preparations for a possible Geelong Cup assignment.

After three encouraging performances in Melbourne, Asva disappointed when finishing last in the Ansett Classic at Mornington.

However, the seven-year-old gelding appears to have thrived since returning home to Tasmania, and trainer Glenn Stevenson is set to push ahead with plans aimed at the Geelong Cup.

Capitalist Filly Catches the Eye

One youngster to attract plenty of interest during the jumpouts was an unnamed Capitalist filly out of Supernova, purchased by MyRacehorse at this year’s Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale.

Having her first jumpout for trainer Stuart Gandy, the filly made an encouraging start to her education.

She loaded into the barriers without fuss, showed good gate speed and travelled comfortably throughout before finishing off nicely to run third.

Gandy was pleased with the effort and plans to give the filly a short break before, once she is officially named, progressing her towards a trial.

The first two-year-old race of the Tasmanian season is scheduled for Elwick on November 29.
