Countdown Begins – 130 Days Until Tasmanian Magic Millions Sale.

The countdown is officially underway, with just 130 days until the first yearling steps into the sales ring at the 2027 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale, to be held at Quercus Park, Carrick, on February 15.

Magic Millions representative Tim Brown and his team have been busy travelling around Tasmania inspecting youngsters ahead of the 2027 catalogue.

“The quality of yearlings looks good once again,” Brown said.

Following the success of this year’s sale, both Magic Millions and Tasbreeders will be hoping the positive momentum continues into 2027.

“We look like cataloguing just over 100 yearlings,” Brown said.

The catalogue is expected to be available online by mid to late November, giving prospective buyers plenty of time to assess the next crop of Tasmanian yearlings.

Interstate and International Interest Continues to Grow

While local owners and trainers traditionally make up the majority of buyers, the Tasmanian sale continues to attract interest from interstate and overseas, with astute purchasers discovering some real gems among the offerings.

One regular visitor is South Australian trainer Gordon Richards, who enjoys his annual trip to the Apple Isle and rarely heads home without at least one yearling destined for his Morphettville stables.

Richards has enjoyed considerable success with the progeny of Tasmanian stallion Stratosphere, including his recent winner The Stalker, a $40,000 purchase from the 2023 Tasmanian Magic Millions Sale.

The international market is also becoming increasingly important, with yearlings sold to buyers from Malaysia, Hong Kong and the Philippines at this year’s sale.

Magic Millions will be keen to build on that overseas interest, particularly throughout the Asian market, as Tasmania continues to showcase the quality and value of its locally bred thoroughbreds.

With another promising catalogue taking shape and buyers from near and far expected to be involved, the 2027 sale promises to be another important occasion for the Tasmanian breeding industry.

So mark Monday, February 15, 2027, in your calendar and make sure you’re at Quercus Park, Carrick, when the next generation of Tasmanian racing talent goes under the hammer.
