Popular Tasmanian jockey Codi Jordan is back in the state and preparing for a return to race riding after spending almost four months travelling around mainland Australia.

Jordan has not ridden in a race since June 28 at Devonport, but took the first step towards her comeback when partnering two runners at Tuesday’s Devonport trials.

The talented rider wasted little time making her presence felt, guiding the Liam Beamish-trained Henley Extreme to victory before finishing runner-up aboard Earendel, prepared by Barry Campbell.

Jordan has enjoyed an outstanding career since making her race-riding debut in September 2020, having already accumulated 254 winners.

Among her achievements are two Tasmanian apprentice jockeys’ premierships, while she also claimed the 2021/22 senior jockeys’ premiership despite still being an apprentice at the time.

It was a remarkable achievement considering she had only commenced her race-riding career in September 2020.

With her first trial appearances now behind her, Jordan will be looking to build towards a return to race riding and add to her impressive career tally.

Her return will be a welcome addition to Tasmania’s riding ranks.
