Monday’s Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale at the Gold Coast had a Tasmanian connection, with a colt originally sold at the 2026 Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling Sale changing hands for $75,000.
Catalogued as Lot 125, the chestnut colt by Shamardal stallion Earthlight, out of the Lonhro mare Medea, was originally offered by Gawler-based vendors Ken & Candy Smithers at the Tasmanian Magic Millions Sale in February, where he realised $30,000.
The colt returned to the sales ring on Monday, this time offered by Victorian-based Nolan Racing, acting as agents, and attracted interest from international buyers before being knocked down to Chinese interests for $75,000.
The result represented a $45,000 increase on his original purchase price, highlighting another successful resale of a Tasmanian Magic Millions graduate.
In preparation for the sale, the colt had impressed during the September breeze-ups at the Gold Coast, recording a time of 10.50 seconds.
